I worked on round penning for a while, focused on WOAH and turns. He listens great to voice commands and is pretty sensitive to pressure. I then worked with him near the mounting block and worked on mounting. He did great got a little nervous when I was laying across his back but he didnt move just raised his head.
I used the stick and string again to catch and get him comfortable. Once he was relaxed I worked on haltering. I let him smell the halter, rubbed the halter on his neck and back. I held the halter up in front of him, he put his nose in the halter and then remove it by himself. He did this a few times and then I was able to put the halter on, he had a little freak out but he only took one step back. Once the halter was on I asked for a few steps forward then removed the halter. I let him have a bit of a brake and did it again. After I got the halter on a second time I was able to walk him around the round pen with minimal pressure to get him to move.
Used a stick and string to catch and make him feel comfortable. I then worked on trying to get a halter on (breakaway halter). I put the halter up to his face then would back off I continued this until I was able to get the halter completely on. Once the halter was on I applied pressure and would quickly release once he gave any movement.
I moved him into the round pen for a little while just so he could get into a new environment. I tried to get him to let me touch him while in the round pen but he wasn\\\'t really to comfortable with it. He did think about trying to kick out but never acted on it. After a while I moved him back to his stall and worked on trying to get a lead rope around his neck. I tied the rope so it was a big loop. I was able to get the rope around his neck and was able to apply some pressure on it. I had some hay on the ground so that helped a bit. I was able to get the rope off and back on one more time.
I moved Paulo into the small round pen to get him out of his comfort zone a little. He was pretty worked up so i let him be for a little bit. After a while i went back and he let me touch him and pick up his front legs.
