Puma was found at a feed lot where she was discarded by her owners. Apparently, at age 8, she was deemed too old to continue her life as brood mare and was considered virtually worthless. Thankfully, a good Samaritan bought her on the spot and eventually, Puma made her way to us. She has made phenomenal progress at Equine Aid and is doing well under saddle.

Leading + Sending (Groundwork)

Horse Image

Completed challenge with Puma today. Practiced coming in and out of the large run-in, by \\\"sending\\\" her through the narrow doorway and asking her to turn + reorient herself to my position (instead of the other way around). She picked it up very quickly - leading me to believe that she\\\'s done this or something similar before. By the end of our session, there was zero tension on lead line at any point - if I even thought \\\"send\\\", she went. I think this will be useful for her (and the rest of the herd) for am and pm feedings to keep traffic handlers safe and confident. She\\\'s a great mare - love her!
