03/02/2018 03:48 Groundwork |
Had a good, quiet session today. Worked on walking calmly and squeezing between me and the fence without rushing |
02/26/2018 06:48 Groundwork |
Angelo was very impatient and pushy today. When I backed him to the end of the rope he wouldn’t stand still, and when I snapped the rope he would rear. When he did this, I pushed him forward, hard, and kept him going and changing directions until I asked him to stop. We did this several times until he would stand quietly at the end of the rope |
02/23/2018 05:41 Groundwork |
Worked on the squeeze game between me and the fence. It took a little while for him to walk through relaxed. He did not like when I banged the stick on the saddle, so I did this on both sides until he relaxed |
02/16/2018 06:10 Groundwork |
Worked on fine tuning ground work. He had trouble backing, and standing still once he was backed up. We worked on it. Moved hindquarters, forequarters, and went sideways well |
02/12/2018 05:19 Groundwork |
Discovered that his reading problem is not due to the bit, but the cross ties. Did not put bit on over halter while he was tied today, just waited until he was in the round pen, and he was fine. When I left himnon the cross ties just saddled and walked away, he started to rear and fidget. Dani is going to get her patience pole fixed so we can start tying him there |
02/10/2018 03:03 Groundwork |
He kicked at me in the cross ties when I asked him to move over. I saddled him and when I put the bridle on her reared again. I did a lot of intense work in the round pen to get his focus. A lot of changing direction and keeping his feet moving. I did not allow him to look away from me. Then I used my fingers on the bit to start asking him to bend left and right, and get used to pressure on the bit |
02/05/2018 04:54 Saddled |
Saddled on cross ties and put bridle with bit over halter. Everything for correctly but he still reared and got loose on the cross ties. I put him back until he relaxed and stood quietly. In the round pen I worked him on line first. He shook his head some, but settled down and had a nice session. |
01/29/2018 04:02 Saddled |
Saddled for the first time in several weeks and did groundwork. He did buck some in the beginning of the session. He settled down and worked on going sideways and giving to the pressure of the halter. We played with the ball and he’s starting to learn to push it to me |
01/22/2018 06:57 Groundwork |
Did some conditioning in the roundpen with him, and worked on desensitizing with the ball |
01/12/2018 04:50 Accepting bit |
He get very worked up and agitated about the bit. I let him sit on the cross ties with the bit in while haltered. He pulled back once. Once he settled, I took him in the round pen and sent him out to let him get comfortable carrying it. He shook his head a lot in the beginning, but did settle down toward the end |
01/10/2018 04:15 Groundwork |
First session back in several weeks. Saddled and he bucked a little the first few canter strides. He was pretty relaxed today and didn’t have any problems. Worked on allowing me to walk all the way around him while he stood still. He gets nervous when you go behind him, but he did let me do it after a few tries |
12/19/2017 04:28 Groundwork |
Did a warm up exercise to help him relaxed, then bridled him again. He is very worried about playing with the bit. He is constantly messing with it and shaking his head. I make him move his feet and he forgets it and is fine, but as soon as he stops, he starts messing with it again. I ended it when he relaxed some. |
12/18/2017 03:59 Introduced bit |
Today I introduced him to a snaffle bit and had a short session to let him carry it while still on a halter and lead. He is very uncomfortable with it and would not stop fidgeting, but he did not panic. Did get better as the session went on |
12/15/2017 04:28 Groundwork |
Saddled, did usual exercises, then introduced a bit. He was very good today. He is not panicking as much when put under pressure, and is giving a lot more relaxation and kicking/chewing/blowing out |
12/14/2017 04:06 Groundwork |
He was very relaxed and responsive today. Lots of blowing out and licking and chewing. Worked on him accepting pressure, and relaxing |
12/07/2017 08:53 Groundwork |
Saddled and did groundwork at liberty. He was much more relaxed, but would not come up to me. We worked it out, and after 45 mins he did come up, so I ended it there |
12/05/2017 08:39 Groundwork |
Had a lot of energy. Worked on relaxing at liberty, and coming in to me. Took a while, but ended on a good note. |
11/30/2017 08:43 Ground work |
Did a tune up on all ground work. He had a lot of energy and started off defiant and not focused. He settled down after he started paying attention, and he w/t/c on the circle very nicely. He had trouble squeezing between me and the fence, but with some work was able to do it quietly |
11/24/2017 04:07 Groundwork |
Much more cautious with saddle today. Did buck some at first. Going back to groundwork for a while until he can relax again. |
11/18/2017 06:21 Groundwork and rode |
Did groundwork to warm up, then rode. He did well walking. Worked on lateral flexion, stopping , and backing in the rope halter. He became very soft. Asked for a trot, and it started well. When I asked him to slow down, and got bracey and broke into a canter, and starting bucking. I fell off, did some more groundwork to get him focused again, and got back on and sat on him until he relaxed. |
11/17/2017 01:06 Groundwork and rode |
Did some liberty work to get him focused. He had not been worked with in several weeks. Once he was focused, I mounted him and rode him at a walk for several minutes around the round pen. |
