Riding in the arena. Rocky pretty foot sore after trim on Wednesday. Slowed everything down to a walk. 90 degree turns with lateral maneuvers. Really nice. Some opposition to moving hind end. Too much weight on for for sore feet? Not sure. A little playing with ha outside the box. All went pretty well today.
Wagon wheel again loping. Much better and softer. No problem picking up right lead. 90 degree turns. Also used 90 degree turns on the trail to keep him with me. Played a little with the cows but not much. Rode around the herd and counted babies.
Trail ride on the mariposa with friends. Looking for connection. Rocky pretty distracted but more tuned in at the end. 20 minutes in the arena to regain connection and do some loping. Went well. Pushing a little on the bit but better by the end.
Ride wagon wheel, circles, asking for availability
Warm up wth circles and finding comfort walk and trot. Wagon wheel walk and trot. Lope wagon wheel. Getting better going to the right. Good to the left. Rating at the trot slow to fast then slow again. Good to the left. More impulsive to the right. Lots of backing for softness and on a circle. Turn arounds in 4 places on the circle.
What I want for Rocky: - Experiment with Bits - Canter Transitions - Balance in and out of the Canter - Not Rushing in the Canter - Working on being more assertive at the right time to match the opposition - Right leads are better, but still hit or miss - Pretty responsive to cues - Gets emotional at speed, mostly in arena - Lift more in withers - Weak spot on neck
