Conducted weekly training with Mark and Kelly

From 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, I caught Arro and brought him in to the corral, then tied him and groomed him. From 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, I conducted groundwork training with Mark and Kelly. Arro was lunged at the walk and trot, did work with and without the flag, and he was introduced to a bouncing ball and a tarp. I worked with Arro on the forequarter, the hindquarter, and side passing. At the end of the session, Mark put a belly rope on Arro and we lunged him at a walk and a trot with pressure on his fore and hind areas, simulating where the saddle cinches would sit and what they would feel like while Arro was in motion.

Conducted weekly training with Mark and Kelly

I arrived at 1:45 PM and caught Arro for training. I groomed him until 2:00 PM, then Kelly started class. From 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, I worked with Arro on previously introduced skills. With help from Kelly, we worked Arro on yielding his forequarter, which has proven difficult for him to do correctly. I also introduced Arro to a flag and worked with him while he stood still to see how he tolerated the flag. The only issue noted with the flag is that he does not like it when it is just in front of his front feet, below his nose.

Conducted weekly training with Mark and Kelly

This was my first session with Kelly and Mark. I arrived at the rescue a couple hours prior to the class start time to catch Arro, since I had never caught him before. I used a web halter the first time I caught Arro, because I didn\\\'t know how to properly tie the knots on the training halter. I spent from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM catching Arro, grooming him, and walking through the corral with him on lead to see how he behaved on the lead rope. From 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, I learned how to choose a training halter of correct size for my horse, how to correctly tie the knots on the halter, and how to tie Arro properly. I learned how to lunge Arro at a walk, how to send him through a gate, how to back him using correct pressure points, and how to lead him with appropriate distance between myself and him.
