Training with Courtney

Horse Image

Sent over half barrels. Rubbed him with saddle pad and flag. Kept flag over his face until he would be still and we ended with him standing still when I did it. Threw saddle pad on ground and got him to approach it within two feet. Was scared of it going near his face but eventually calmed down and let me put it close to his face and on his ears without trying to leave. Worked on getting him to come to the mounting block. Took a lot more steps at a time when riding. Trimmed hooves in wash rack for first time! Went onto scale good, weighed 373#

Training with Courtney

Horse Image

Rubbed saddle pad and flag all over him, when it was on his face he would back and turn away. Threw saddle pad on the ground and he was very scared of it. Put flag on ground and rubbed the front lower parts of him with it which he did not like. Tried to get him to calm down about all of those things. Rode him, got him to take a few steps.

08/19/2020 09:40

Training

Horse Image

Brought mounting block in stall, sent through stall good but took a lot of pressure to get him back in. He smelled it a few times and put his nose on it, then I moved it closer to him. He was scared but started to relax and would look at it. Had to keep backing him to get him to stay next to it. I stood on the mounting block and rubbed the saddle pad all over him. Did same on other side. Threw pad on him and he didn\\\'t care. Threw the pad underneath him and he freaked out trying to get away from it with his tail tucked. He calmed down and I got him to turn around and look at it. Did it again and he wasn\\\'t as scared. Sent him in between the wall and block and rubbed him with the pad, then put the saddle on him from the mounting block and he was good.

08/17/2020 11:30

Riding Training

Horse Image

Worked him with saddle on, worked on coming up to mounting block. He wouldn\\\'t get close enough to it for me to get on him but I put my leg over him and he was fine with it. Did not like when I placed the mounting block near him, kept working and he was less scared by it. Dani gave me a leg up on him and he did not buck. Worked on getting him to move from saddle, would only take a few steps at a time.

08/16/2020 07:20

Riding Training

Horse Image

Worked him with saddle on. Sent into trailer from his right side great and backed out without flag reinforcement. Sent over bridge and half barrels on each side as well. Mounted from ground in his paddock then got off to adjust saddle. Mounted from fence and he bucked me off. Myah gave me a leg up and he bucked me off again. Mounted again with him facing the fence and he was fine. Got him to take a few steps.

08/10/2020 11:00

Riding Training

Horse Image

Saddled for first time! Was apprehensive of saddle at first but didn\\\'t bother him at all after put on. Did all arena obstacles great with saddle on. Except for pool, ignored flag, Dani had to chase him with another pool and he kept bolting away from it. Finally put front feet into pool. Was rubbed on back legs and butt with the pool and had it sitting on his back. Rode with saddle, kept working on getting him to go and stopping. Stops great.

08/09/2020 07:00

Riding Training

Horse Image

Drove well in crowded arena. Listened to commands better, had a little issue stopping once he was close to gate of arena. Rode in paddock, took more steps at a time and needed less bumping.

08/03/2020 10:30

Riding Training

Horse Image

Used bit for the first time, he was resistant with it being put in. Drove with halter first then attached lines to bit. He was easier to control with turning and stopping. Took a bit of asking to walk. Started working on backing, he backed a few steps with light pressure. Sent over tire and into trailer great, backed out without constant flag on face. When I mounted him, he took off bucking and I rolled off his butt. Hopped back on and Dani helped with the lead pressure to get him to walk, breaks were good. Then practiced with just reins and bit. He would take few steps but it took a lot of bumping, good with turning but sometimes he got it confused with asking to stop.

08/01/2020 08:00

Challenge Finale

Horse Image

Did not trot. Backed a little sidways with steady pressure. Yields were great. Did not go near the pool with water in it. Backing L and side pass were good. Sent through obstacle well. Did not go near the bubble blower. Sent into trailer and backed out great with the bubbles off. Tied and picked up hooves well.

07/31/2020 10:30

Ground Work

Horse Image

Sent through pool on both sides. Walked into trailer right away and backed out. Worked on side pass over pole, resistant with HQ yields. When asking for HQ yield with flag, he would walk forward, when using pressure with my hand, it took a lot of pressure. Dani pulled him around with Libby, he was very resistant but learned to give to the pressure, would not trot. Still very gate sour with driving, kept wanting to turn around and would not consistently walk. Dani rode behind me and that encouraged him to walk, then trot, then he took off and snatched away. Got better with changing direction at the end, did not want to stop when asked. Sat on him in arena and he stood still.

07/30/2020 07:00

Ground Work

Horse Image

Tried to get him to trot and he came very close but did not. Sent over tire on both sides. Stepped one foot in pool when sending to the right then walked through pool when sending to the left. Worked on HQ/FQ yields. Sent into trailer from the hula hoop but he turned around. Sent in again and kept him facing forward and backed out. Sat on him in stall. Bathed him for first time! Pulled back very hard at the end but got him to come back and calm down with the water.

07/27/2020 09:00

Ground Work

Horse Image

Kept wanting to turn around when driving, very gate sour. Had to ask hard many times for a stop. Better when asking to walk. Refused to walk through pool. Dani and I both used flags and he ignored them so she wrapped a lead around his butt and I was pulling on him and used treats to get him to step one foot in. Very difficult to get him to step over tire also but he reluctantly did. Sent into trailer and backed out good. Sat on him in stall. Was fine with being rubbed with clippers while off and seeing them turned on at a distance but kept swinging away when I tried to approach him with them on. Calmed down and I rubbed him with the clippers on. Rinsed on both sides, stood still mostly whole time.

07/22/2020 09:30

Ground Work

Horse Image

Wore surcingle while worked. He did well with changing directions while driving but sometimes would turn too far and try to face me. Had to ask a couple times for him to stop and go. Took a lot of work to get him to step one foot in the pool on each side, there was a little bit of water in it on one side. When trying to deworm, he kept backing and pulling head away. Rubbed him with clippers while off then kept pulling away when I turned clippers on. Let me rub him with the clippers on a few times. Pulled and reared when I turned on water hose a few times. Learned to stand still and I wet his whole body gradually.

07/20/2020 09:00

Ground Work

Horse Image

Started driving training. Sent him in circle with driving lines on. Dani lead him while I held the lines beside him. Then I moved behind him and drove him. Kept pushing forward when I tried to stop him a couple times and kept wanting to turn and face me. Did well with changing direction for first time. Sent to mounting block, he got really close to it. Sent through pool easily. Sent into trailer and stood inside for a while and stayed straight to back out. Mounted in stall and he stood still. Stood well for farrier and went onto scale easily.

07/16/2020 07:30

Ground Work

Horse Image

Wore surcingle while worked. Mounted him and Cat walked him by lead from barn to arena and around arena. He was calm but kept wanting to stop. Picked up and held all four legs with stick and string good. Sent up to mounting block on both sides then stood on it and rubbed him.

07/15/2020 09:30

Ground Work

Horse Image

Wore surcingle while he was worked. Sent through pools good. On his right side, got him to walk up to and smell trailer, would not get in. Kept turning to face me. On his left side, would only get in trailer with front legs then kept backing away and facing me. Dani helped get him all the way in the trailer, he turned around and stood in for a few seconds. Worked on sending him beside mouting block while I stood on it, then rubbing him while he was standing beside it. Layed over his back a few times then mounted and sat on him for a little. He stood the whole time and didn\\\'t mind it. Rubbed him with water hose but he took off multiple times when the water was turned on. Ended after I rinsed his back and armpits.

07/14/2020 07:30

Ground Work

Horse Image

Rubbed with saddle pad and surcingle. Put on surcingle and wore while he was worked, he didn\\\'t mind it at all. Sent through pools. Walked/sent him around the mounting block and made him stand beside it. Did not like the mounting block on his left side. Stood on mounting block while he was beside it.

07/13/2020 09:00

Ground Work

Horse Image

Turned and faced me and stood to be haltered when I entered stall. Pulled him, picked up pace, and used flag to try and get him to trot but he would not. Sent through pool on both sides, almost ran me over at the beginning. Sent into trailer, used flag to keep straight the first time but the last 2 times he stood straight without flag. Picked up all 4 hooves with stick and string, no kicking. Backed the L good. Worked on keeping him standing over the pole with it between his front and back legs for side pass. Got him to take a few steps in the side pass a couple times before he would step over the pole.

07/02/2020 07:00

Ground Work

Horse Image

Backed out of stall then sent in and out many times, he is scared to walk out of stall when groom box is close. Sent over tire on both sides. Kept putting one foot in pool then jumping past it but ended with him walking through it on each side. Waved flag over fence at him and he walked forward soon after each time.

07/01/2020 09:00

Ground Work

Horse Image

Sent over half barrels, bridge, and tire great. Hopped into trailer for the first time! Had to keep him facing forward with flag and he backed out a couple times. Very difficult with going over pool, smelled it a lot but took a long time to get him to step one foot in.

06/30/2020 07:00

Ground Work

Horse Image

Backed out of stall, had to keep adjusting HQ. Sent between barrels and fence and backed out. Sent over half barrels and bridge great. Lined up with trailer and stepped forward and smelled it. Smelled pool and walked around but would not step in. Stepped completely on tire, first time working with it, and jumped off. Good with HQ yields, had to put pressure on face for better FQ yield.

06/29/2020 09:00

Ground Work

Horse Image

Worked on belly rope: Turned and looked at me as soon as I gave pressure with right side. Turned and looked at me a few times on left but would start backing or keep walking around me most times. Walked up to trailer, lined up and smelled it a few times.

Ground Work

Horse Image

Did not want to be haltered or sent through gate so backed through it. Would not trot from feel until Dani waved flag behind him then he trotted a couple steps a few times. Backed L great. Pulled back hard against lead while tied when I stepped away.

06/16/2020 06:00

Ground Work

Horse Image

Ran away when trying to halter so made him trot circles. Worked on trotting by feel in arena, used lots of pressure with lead and flag/stick and string and he refused to trot. Did great backing the L. Walked onto scale good.

06/08/2020 09:00

Ground Work

Horse Image

Walked away at first but did not take long to catch. Got him to take a step towards me. HQ and FQ yields, more difficult on his right side. Stood for grooming, backed up when I reached for his front left but good with all other hooves. Walked through barn but had to keep steady pressure to get him in, he was very reluctant. Walked him into both washracks, also needed lots of pressure.

06/03/2020 09:00

Catching

Horse Image

Walked away for the first few minutes and was a little skittish when I would reach to pet him. Haltered 2 times on each side, the last two times he stood still and watched me as I walked up to him. Kept pressure on the lead the whole time I groomed him as he was tied. After I finished I got him to step forward but then he started pawing. Picked hooves in the stall. With front left, he tried backing away at first and with back left he kicked out once. Ended with picking all hooves and setting down nicely.

06/01/2020 09:00

Catching

Horse Image

Worked on catching. The first time, I had to follow him around for a few minutes and then put the rope around his neck to keep him still. Then haltered 3 more times, he kept his eyes on me and stood still as I walked up to him. Groomed.

05/30/2020 12:00

Catching

Horse Image

Showed his butt and walked away from me for a while. He will turn and look at me but once I get too close he walks away. Walked up to him and used the rope around his neck so he would not turn and haltered him.
