Today I was able to brush her whole body from both sides. Although she was very peaceful once I started, when I began to brush her shoulder she tensed up, then relaxed as time went on. She also let me touch her nose and forehead with the tip of the training stick. I sat on a stool in the round pen for a while and she came over to arm length from me on her own. We spent a quiet few minutes like that, just being friendly. Mary Stuart

Lunged without a rope, rub her nose and poll.

Lunged Goldie in both directions, touched her face and poll. She followed me walking around the pen.

Scratched Goldie on both sides from front to back and belly. Lifted all four legs two times. Held both hands on her neck high close to her ears and scratched. Groomed Goldie with soft brush first time. Lounged Goldie both directions without a rope in the round pen. Touched lead rope to her right side neck and halter on her nose, but she would not let me move forward with it.

Goldie lets me approach slowly without moving away as long as I do it first on her right side. Scratched her face, neck, back, right side, and belly. I could scratch her neck on the left side if I stood on her right side. Touched her front right leg first time today and she lifted it for me. Advanced, touched, and retreated multiple times so she get used to approaching.

Goldie is improving. She lets me advance straight on or to her right side, but not her left. She lets me touch her nose, neck, shoulder, back, stomach, and rump on the right side, but only her neck on the left side. Did this three times over 30 minutes without her moving away scared. Working to touch all over and then bring a halter into the picture.

Goldie left me advance and touch her chin, both sides of nose, and right side of her neck.

Goldie let me walk straight up to her slowly, pause, and then touch her nose. She stepped away and came back. Then had her do some small circles in the paddock and change direction. She joined up again. She let me touch her chin, keep my hand on both sides of her face, and scratch her forehead a lot. No halter or lead rope.

Advanced slowly while Goldie stayed calm. Touched her chin, nose, forehead, and side of face. Goldie was calm with Dakota nearby.

Slowly advanced on Goldie to keep her calm by scratching Dakota, her paddock friend. Goldie came over close so I could touch her chin, nose, and scratch her neck (left side) while at the same time scratching Dakota. Walked slowly to move Goldie in small circles and let her stop or advance to me a couple times.

Tired to keep Goldie calm by working Dakota next to her with her watching. Goldie let Dakota and me come right up to her without running away. Scratched Dakota and Goldie\\\'s face and chin at the same time.

Moved Goldie to the round pen. She lunged well both directions-very aware of pointing and clucking. No one else was nearby and my halter and rope were on the fence. She advanced to me and followed me around after lunging. Approached with hand low to touch bottom of her chin. She likes this better than trying to touch the top of her nose or forehead. Eventually she calmed and let me touch and maintain my hand on the underside of her chin and scratch the left side of her neck.

Exercised both Goldie and Strawberry in paddock then moved both to holding pen for handling. Both sniffed my hand but would not let me touch their necks

Exercised Goldie and Strawberry. Slowly advanced on Goldie, she sniffed my hand but would not let me touch her today.

I stood in the middle of the large paddock and let Goldie and Strawberry circle around me with audio commands and pointing. Both trotted and walked. I released pressure and they separated. I continued to apply slight pressure to Goldie to keep her feet moving and then released pressure. She turned to face me and allowed me to slowly advance. She sniffed my hand and stayed still while touched her chin, but not the top of her face. I stepped away and released her and we did it all over again.

Goldie is one of our more difficult horses when it comes to Farrier work. She has previously been heavily sedated to get hooves done. We placed gravel near water trough in paddock to support \\\"natural trimming\\\" go give us more time to work on getting her hooves done without sedation.

Goldie is currently uncatchable and needs to be sedated to have her hooves trimmed. I am generally able to groom her head to toe, but she refuses to be haltered. She is gently driven into a chute, which terrifies her, and after that experience, she is untouchable. Have to rebuild the relationship from the start
