groundwork

Bob Brown - haltered, groomed, longed. Walk and trot in roundpen.

Groundwork

Caught up in pasture. RP - Walk with me while I move things around. Very windy - at first slight concern about wind in trees. Later was able to use full RP even close to waving branches. Back up - off rope (Phase 4 to start, down to Ph 2); off nose - improvement with repetition; along fence with me parallel, at first close in to him, then with wiggle of rope while I backed with him. Circle game - both directions fine. Better at trot to walk transition, breathing him down helped. W T, and C both ways A little hind end up at first canter, a little reactive forward when asked to keep it going or to go back into it. 2 laps each way.. Picked up all 4 feet, some resistance but no kicking. Good session.

Groundwork

Direct pressure games - pretty resistant at first but did move HQ, FQ and backed up. Better with rhythmic pressure. Worked on handling head and ears, slight improvement. Circle game - didn\\\'t want to go left at first, had to drive more from behind. Crowding my space with shoulders and ribs - lot of sending him out. Also worked on adding walk after trot instead of stopping and facing. .Picked all 4 feet. Still started with rope on hinds but then fine to let me hold them.

Groundwork

Hoof handling - picked up fronts, cleaned; used rope to pick up hind feet. Seems more relaxed with rope than hands. Improvement.

Groundwork

Body groom, picked hooves - still a little resistant on LH. Groundwork basics - leading, move FQ and HQ away from pressure, backing up, circle game, send out and bring back. Moderately good at the tasks.

Groundwork

Sending him out, asking to give to direct and rhythmic pressure. On circle wants to come in - blocked him and sent back out, gave it up reluctantly. Ask for downward transition from trot to walk on circle - seemed like a new concept to him, started to get it . Sent over 2 poles at walk, 1 at trot - good. Trotted with him a few times - somewhat accepting of my movement.
