06/12/2019 12:30 Arena |
Due to a swollen sore spot on Sandy\\\'s shoulder, I wanted to give her a few days off of being ridden under saddle. Yesterday I focused on using the long lines and driving her from behind trying to encourage her to bend and round out through her neck and back through her turns. Today her spot on her shoulder had reduced in size and after palpation I decided to ride Sandy today bareback. Sandy stayed calm and relaxed as I mounted and we walked around the arena both directions to warm up. Then we started practicing small 5 meter circles at the walk. Encouraging her to bend around my leg with a nice balanced gait. One of the volunteers was working on dragging a pole with another horse so, Sandy and I started following the moving obstacle. Sandy was very curious and was genuinely interested in watching the pole move around the arena. She never reacted out of fear or seemed rigid. Sandy seems to be a very confident mare! |
