Saddled

Horse Image

Really had trouble getting him saddled, so had to have Dani step in and hold him. He still tried to jump on top of us and push us out of the way. We have decided that she is going to help me from now on. Worked on changing direction and yielding hind and forequarters

Saddled

Horse Image

He stood a little better for saddling today. He didn’t freak out, but just moved some. No problems once he was saddled. Worked on circling game and changing directions. Kept it a shorter session since he did well

Saddled

Horse Image

He gave me a little trouble in the round pen eating to change directions instead of stopping when I asked for a stop. He wouldn’t stand still to be saddled, but did not buck or give problems once he saddled

Saddled

Horse Image

Had some trouble saddling today. He would not stay still, and tried running away a few times. He did Buck when I first sent him out. He settled down after some time, but was still defiant, trying to change directions and stop without me telling him to.

Groundwork

Horse Image

Saddled him for the first time in a few weeks, and he did great. Did not buck at all. Worked on yielding to pressure with the saddle for the first time, and he stayed calm and tried hard

Groundwork

Horse Image

Studly is very unconfident, and can be untrusting of people. Today I worked on building his confidence with the stick and string. He got worked up a few times, but did become very relaxed and personable by the end of the session

Groundwork and saddled

Horse Image

Did some liberty work to get him warmed up, then saddled him. He stood still to be saddled, but did nick some when I sent him out. I did a lot of changing speed and direction until he settled down. He did relax into it. Then I worked on hindquarter are forequarter yields.

Groundwork

Horse Image

He had a lot of energy today. Did a lot of changes of direction and speed to get him focused. He gave me some trouble saddling, but I did get him saddled quietly after a few tries. Once saddled, I sent him out on line and he did buck some, but settled down

Groundwork

Horse Image

He was turned out in the roundpen, and would not come to Beto be caught. We did liberty work-changing speed and direction, until he would come to me. I then saddled him. He handled it great-no problems. Still had a little trouble being sent to the left on line, but we worked it out quicker than yesterday.

Saddled

Horse Image

I did groundwork with him before I saddled him today. He did not want to go to his left side. I had to stay with my back against the fence to send him to the left. He finally gave up after about 30 minutes and did what I asked. He did great being saddled, and went out at liberty with no problems. We tied him in his stall with his saddle on in front of his hay bags so he could get used to it more.

Saddled

Horse Image

Saddled him for the first time since his big blow up. He was tense and it took some time for him to settled into it, but there were no real problems. He doesn’t seem uncomfortable with the saddle itself, but still just the girth pressure.

Accepting girth pressure

Horse Image

Tried out a wider girth on the bareback pad to distribute the pressure across a wider area on his belly. He was much more relaxed and comfortable, and for the first time there was no bucking or crow-hopping.

Accepting girth pressure

Horse Image

Worked in accepting girth pressure with bareback pad. Usually very shut down and stoic, but today he was reactive, even a little spooky. He is starting to show emotions. No serious bucking, but some crow-hopping and very tense.
